New World Hastings is seeking a dynamic and experienced Grocery Manager to join our team and drive excellence in our grocery department.

Role Overview: As the Grocery Manager, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the department including buying for the department. You will lead a successful team to deliver growth, meet budgets and targets, and ensure high standards are consistently maintained. This role offers an opportunity to gain experience similar to running your own business, with a focus on creating an outstanding team and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the grocery department, ensuring efficient operations and excellent customer service.
• Work on the long-term strategy and direction for the buying to ensure we deliver on our customer promises.
• Control stock levels, and make sure appropriate procedures are in place to minimize out of stocks.
• Review product range and implement shelf relays to deliver targets.
• Train and develop staff to reach their full potential, while maintaining good HR practices.
• Collaborate with other department managers and senior leadership to contribute to the overall performance of the store.

Skills and Experience Required:
Essential:

• Computer literate
• Retail experience to supervisory level or previous department management experience
• Physically fit and able to fulfill the requirements of the role

Desired:

• Unit standard 497
• Extensive SAP knowledge would be a distinct advantage.
• Good command of written/spoken English
• Basic math skills
• Food retail experience
