Rink/facility Specialist

Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has openings for a Rink/Facility Specialist to perform and supervise cleaning and maintenance activities in the skating rink and surrounding facilities and grounds; assist with coordination and oversight of the facilities and grounds during assigned shifts; and assist with other general buildings and grounds maintenance work as needed. The position shall also be responsible to perform a wide range of cleaning, skilled building repair, and construction work on school district buildings and grounds.

Pay:$22.43+ Based on Experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in building, grounds, or facility maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of ice rink operations
  • Ability to operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and grounds equipment (mowers, snow blowers, tractors, etc.)
  • Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor, including lifting, bending, shoveling, and working outdoors in all weather
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours as required by events or seasonal needs
  • Strong attention to safety procedures and ability to enforce regulations with patrons
  • Effective communication skills and ability to interact courteously with students, staff, and the public
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (to drive a district vehicle)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with ice rink operations and ice maintenance, including ice resurfacing and equipment operation (e.g., Zamboni)
  • Certification or specialized training in refrigeration systems, HVAC, or facility operations
  • Knowledge of turf and athletic field maintenance practices
  • Previous supervisory experience with seasonal or student employees
  • Ability to perform routine carpentry, painting, plumbing, or minor construction tasks
  • Familiarity with OSHA and school district safety standards
  • Demonstrated ability to support special events and serve as a liaison with community groups
