We match your experience and skills to the specialist needs of the homes and young people you’ll visit. Your insight matters — we listen to what you find and do everything we can to build a productive, professional relationship with the homes you work with.
What you’ll do
Once you’re allocated to a home you’ll carry out monthly visits. You’ll work independently during these visits, observing practice, talking with adults and external professionals and most importantly the young people, and checking whether the home is safeguarding children effectively and promoting their wellbeing.
How we’ll support you
You won’t be on your own — our team is available for ongoing support and guidance, and we’ll provide regular feedback and learning points to help you develop in the role.
Reporting
You’ll produce clear, objective reports that honestly reflect your findings and give a detailed, thoughtful evaluation of the children’s safety, lived experiences and day-to-day wellbeing.

Experience

The Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations, including the quality standards
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Meticulous and reliable
- An excellent communicator
- Confident in writing clear, high-quality reports
- Comfortable working to deadlines
As a Regulation 44 Visitor with Changing Outcomes, you’ll be able to build trust with young people and develop a supportive, “critical friend” relationship with providers — offering both challenge and encouragement where needed.
Experience that’s essential:
- Successfully managing a residential children’s home and holding an Ofsted registration for a minimum of two years
Practical requirements:
- Access to a car
- A full UK driving licence

Experience:
- being a registered manager of a children's home: 2 years (required)
