Join our team working in a fast-paced, behind-the-scenes, you keep flights running on time. As a General Assistant in our Dishroom and Equipment area, you will support the cleaning, handling and organisation of catering equipment, ensuring high standards of hygiene, safety, and efficiency. This is a hands-on role suited to someone reliable, team-focused and ready to work in a busy operational environment.

Title: General Assistant

Reports to: Department Manager

Shifts: Rotating Shift Pattern 4 on 2 off, 2 earlies, followed by 2 lates

Shift Length: 8 and half hour shifts

Start times: Early shift start time between 5.00 am - 7.00 am, late shifts start between 10.00 am and midday

Rate: £12.81 per hour, plus double pay on bank holidays

Dishwash - Responsibilities

  • To dispose of all waste in the appropriate equipment provided.
  • Load catering equipment into the machine as per training.
  • Ensure wash machine is running to temperature.
  • Make sure the machine is dosing chemicals as per guidelines.
  • After washing check equipment for damage and cleanliness.
  • Record, report breakages i.e. China, glass.
  • Ensure supplier demands are met on equipment requirements.
  • Clean airline equipment as per customer requirements.

Equipment - Responsibilities

  • Receive cleaned catering equipment from the Dishroom.
  • Visually inspect all incoming equipment for cleanliness and any damage.
  • Immediately report any damaged, broken, or defective items i.e. trolleys and canisters.
  • Comply with the "clean as you go" standard to maintain a hygienic and organized workstation throughout the shift.
  • Accurately read airline packing specifications and diagrams.
  • Pick and gather all items needed for the specific flight and trolley.
  • Correctly label all trolleys, canisters, and other items with the flight, date, and other relevant information.
  • Assemble and pack trolleys, drawers, and other catering equipment according to the airline's specification and loading instructions.
  • Perform a final quality check to ensure all items are correctly packed, clean, and undamaged.
  • Record and log all breakages to track inventory loss and for reporting purposes.
  • Ensure all equipment requirements specified by the customer are met for each flight.
  • Clean and pack specialised airline equipment as per the customer requirements.
  • Ensure stock items are organised and rotated properly to minimise waste and ensure accuracy.
  • Marshall packed equipment for sealing to the dispatch area.
