Painting Trades Worker

Shiny Touch Painting and Decorating Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced Painting Trades Worker to join our growing team. The role involves carrying out high-quality residential and commercial painting and decorating work in accordance with Australian standards, safety requirements, and client specifications. The successful applicant will be required to work independently and as part of a team to deliver projects on time and to a professional finish.

Task & responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint and wallpaper, fixing woodwork, sanding, filling holes and cracks.
• Calculate material quantities and estimate project costs based on surface measurements and work orders.
• Ensure high-quality finishes on interior and exterior surfaces.
• Select and mix paints and required material (pigment, oil and dry additives) to achieve desired finishes.
• Simulate wood grain, marble, brick or tile effects as required.
• Safely erect and use ladders, scaffolding, and access equipment.
• Place drop sheets over floors and room furnishings and cover surfaces like baseboards, door frames and windows with masking tape or paper to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering.
• Polish and refine final coats to achieve specified decorative or high-gloss finishes.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment.
• Follow workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, tradespeople, and clients.
• Complete work within agreed timelines and quality standards.

Qualification & experience

• Relevant trade qualification in Painting and Decorating (Certificate III in Painting and Decorating) or equivalent skills and experience gained through substantial practical work in the painting trade.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience in the painting trade.
• Ability to interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Construction White Card or willing to obtain
• Current driver’s license preferred.
