Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Safely operate company vehicles, including vans and lorries, to deliver goods to designated locations.
- Plan delivery routes to optimise efficiency and meet scheduled deadlines.
- Load and unload items, often requiring heavy lifting, ensuring items are secure during transit.
- Verify delivery orders against manifests and obtain signatures upon completion of deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and team members regarding delivery status or delays.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations at all times during operations.
Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role within commercial driving or warehouse environments.
- Valid
driver’s licence with a clean driving record. - Experience with commercial driving vehicles such as vans or lorries is preferred.
- Familiarity with route planning and GPS navigation tools.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, demonstrating physical fitness for the role.
