Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientated Utilities CAD/BIM Technician to join our expanding design team at our head office in Galway.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce accurate 2D CAD drawings and 3D BIM models for utility infrastructure projects, including water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipework networks, and electrical installations.
Develop designs from concept stage information, surveys, sketches, and engineering calculations.
Coordinate with engineers, architects, and surveyors to integrate design inputs across multiple disciplines.
Carry out clash detection and model coordination using BIM tools such as Autodesk Navisworks.
Ensure drawings and models comply with relevant industry standards, client specifications, health and safety requirements, and BIM standards including ISO 19650.
Adhere to internal quality assurance and document control procedures.
Manage drawing revisions, version control, and file organisation throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare supporting technical documentation, including quantity take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs), where required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills
Proficient in Autodesk Revit for BIM modelling.
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, with AutoCAD 3D and Civil 3D experience considered an advantage.
Experience using Autodesk Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
Qualifications & Experience
Third-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, Building Services, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a design consultancy or similar technical environment.
Previous involvement in utility, infrastructure, or public works projects is desirable.
