We are seeking an experienced Database Manager to build, lead, and manage the DBA team responsible for Zalo’s large-scale database platforms, supporting millions of concurrent users.
This role owns the stability, performance, scalability, and security of mission-critical databases operating 24/7 at massive scale.
What you will do:
- Build, lead, and develop a professional DBA team
- Own end-to-end database operations for production systems
Design and manage enterprise database architecture, including:
High Availability
- Replication and Failover
- Backup and Disaster Recovery
- Security and Compliance
Define and maintain:
Database operational SOPs
- Incident and Change Management processes
Review and approve:
Database schema design
- Migrations and production changes
- Performance-critical queries
- Partner with Backend, DevOps, and Security teams
- Ensure compliance with enterprise security and governance standards
What you will need:
- 5+ years of experience as a DBA / Database Engineer
- 2+ years in a Lead DBA or Database Manager role
- Strong expertise in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
Proven experience operating:
Large-scale systems
- High-availability environments
- 24/7 production platforms
Deep understanding of:
Query optimization and indexing
- Locking and deadlock handling
- Backup and recovery strategies
Hands-on experience with:
Replication and Disaster Recovery
- Database monitoring and alerting
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and incident-management skills
- System-level thinking and strong ownership mindset
