- We are seeking individuals, who have demonstrated a willing commitment to these values, holding them in high regard, to join our award-winning team at the Traphene Hickman Public Library this summer as a Temporary Youth Services Library Assistant!
The purpose of this position is to assist Youth Services staff in providing premier customer experiences within the library. The Youth Services assistant will assist with preparation and planning, as well as the executing of events including Summer Reading Kickoff and ongoing summer programming. Customer service is an essential part of this position as it will serve patrons, answer phones, guide and direct patrons to materials and services available to them at the library. This position will collaborate with Youth Services staff, as well as other library staff to do essential library functions.
How You Add Value:
- Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests in a timely and professional manner. Maintains the appearance of the Library, answers patron’s general questions and assists in the location of library materials and the use of the library equipment and services.
- Assists in organizing and maintaining the shelves within the Youth Services area. Picking up books, toys, and other items belonging in the Youth Services area as well as shelving books.
Assists with all youth programming including Summer Reading Program, story times and special events, as well as Tween and Teen programming as needed. This includes setting up tables, chairs, and any other preparation needed for programming. Prepares take-home kits for use; cleaning items in between checkouts, cutting materials, and other clerical duties in order to prepare for passive-programming. Other duties will be assigned as needed to support Library Staff and essential library functions.
- Regular attendance required.
What You Bring to the Role:
Previous customer service experience required, preferably in library environment.
- Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
