Agricultural Sprayer Operator & General Livestock Farm Work

JOB DESCRIPTION: Cornelius Land and Cattle - Sprayer Operator & General Farm Labor
- Cornelius Land and Cattleis a family farming operation located near Andrew, Iowa. We maintain a 300 head cow/calf herd of beef cattle. The farming operation is closely tied to the production operations for Cornelius Seed Corn. We are looking for a full time employee to help with operating our Case Patriot 120 foot boom sprayer and also general farm labor.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is for BOTH a sprayer operator and a general farm laborer. Spraying responsibilities would take precedence when necessary. Other responsibilities may include operating and maintaining tractors, skid loaders and other various types of equipment. Seasonal operations would include making hay, planting and harvesting corn and soybeans, tillage work and hauling manure. Additional responsibilities would involve beef cattle including feeding, sorting, hauling, vaccinating, maintaining fence, etc.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• High school diploma or GED with preference given a post-secondary degree in Agriculture.
• Self-motivated and able to work without immediate supervision
• Experience operating a large, self propelled agricultural row crop sprayer
• Experience operating and maintain farm equipment
• Experience working with cattle
• Ability to perform heavy lifting (70+ lbs)
• Ability to climb silos
• Ability to work with 2-5 other farm employees

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Caring for the health and well being of the livestock
• General farm operations associated with hay, oat, soybean and corn production.
• Daily chores
• Equipment maintenance
• Maintain fences
• Other tasks assigned by company owners

Work Hours:

• Expect to work an average of 50 hours per week.
• Standard hours are 7am - 5pm. Peak season hours will be longer.
• Spraying will require odd hours based on weather & field conditions
• Work some weekends

Compensation & Benefits:

• Pay will be based on an hourly wage. Wage will vary depending on experience
• Overtime pay starts after 46 hours worked per week

• Paid vacation (40 hours for first year, 80 hours after first year)

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
