ESTATES AND INFRASTRUCTURE Facility Operations
Bloemfontein Campus
Main purpose of the job
To manage the overall maintenance and logistics of CUT Infrastructure, facilities and assets at Bloemfontein and Welkom Campuses.
- Develop appropriate policies and procedures for the facility management unit
- Provide logístical support
- Manage and monitor buildings and facilities management
- Manage and monitor health and safety compliance for the unit
- Manage and monitor projects
- Manage and monitor suppliers and sub-contractors
- Manage the performance and development of staff
- Provide input into the development of a budget for the section
- Provide reports
- Represent the unit internally at different forums
Nature of appointment: Permanent Support Services
Minimum salary scale (Total Cost to Company): R1 235 235 per annum(2026 Salary scales to be confirmed)
Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in the built environment (NQF 7).
- Five (5) years’ experience in managing infrastructure maintenance, facilities and asset management, operations logistics-preferably university-related, including vehicle fleet, gardening, cleaning and sport field management
- Three (3) years' people management experience in a complex work environment such as a university.
- Professional registration such as ECSA, SACPCMP, SACQSP, or equivalent.
- Sound knowledge in areas of maintenance, facilities and operations, logistics management as well as all operations - related support services.
- Valid Driver’s licence.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of infrastructure and estates policies and procedures in a university environment.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of a range of legislation impacting the University e.g. LRA, BBBEE, BCE, OHS Act.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of building and construction codes and regulations.
Desired Qualification, Knowledge, and/Or Experience
- An honour’s degree or an equivalent qualification in the built environment (NQF 8)
- Eight (8) years’ experience in managing infrastructure maintenance, facilities and asset management, operations logistics-preferably university-related, including vehicle fleet, gardening, cleaning and sport field management
- Five (5) years’ people management experience.
