Job Description: Solar Technician - Labour Camp / Facility Management

1. Job Purpose
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV systems installed on labour camp buildings to reduce DEWA/ADDC bills and ensure uninterrupted power for lighting, water pumps, and common areas. Support company’s sustainability targets and Dubai/AD sustainability regulations.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Commissioning
- Install rooftop solar PV panels, mounting structures, inverters, and DC/AC cabling on camp buildings
- Connect solar systems to existing camp DBs and ensure synchronization with DEWA/ADDC grid
- Conduct insulation resistance, continuity, and polarity tests before handover
- Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Perform monthly cleaning of solar panels - critical in UAE due to dust/sand accumulation
- Inspect and tighten MC4 connectors, check for cable damage, rodent bites, UV degradation
- Test inverter performance, MPPT tracking, and error code diagnostics
- Troubleshoot faults: low generation, inverter tripping, string failure, monitoring issues
- Replace faulty panels, micro-inverters, optimizers, fuses, and surge arrestors
- Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor solar generation daily via apps like SolarEdge, SMA, Fronius, or local SCADA
- Log daily kWh production vs. expected output and report underperformance
- Prepare monthly performance reports: generation, savings, CO2 offset, downtime
- Maintain service logs and as-built drawings for each camp site
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow DEWA regulations, IEC standards, and company HSE procedures for working at height
- Use fall protection, LOTO procedures, and insulated tools on live DC systems
- Ensure lightning protection and earthing systems are functional
- Maintain PPE and tool calibration records
- Coordination
- Coordinate with Electrical Technicians for load balancing and DB modifications
- Work with Procurement for spares: panels, inverters, connectors, cleaning tools
- Liaise with camp supervisor for access and shutdown scheduling to avoid disrupting residents
3. Requirements
Experience & Skills:
- 2+ years as Solar PV Technician, preferably on rooftop commercial/residential systems
- Hands-on experience with string inverters, micro-inverters, and monitoring systems
- Ability to read single line diagrams, layout plans, and IV curve data
- Knowledge of DEWA Shams regulations and UAE solar standards is mandatory
Qualifications:
- ITI/Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Renewable Energy
- Valid UAE driving license for inter-camp travel
- DEWA certification or PV installer training from a recognized body is a plus
Physical & Other
- Fit to work at heights, rooftops, and in high temperature 45°C+Basic knowledge of electrical safety and multimeter/clamp meter use
- Communication in English. Hindi/Urdu/Malayalam is a plus for camp staff coordination4.

- System uptime >98% excluding grid outages
- Panel cleaning completion 100% on monthly schedule
- Response time
90% annually - Zero safety incidents at height5. Work Conditions70% rooftop work, 30% office/admin work
- Early morning shifts in summer to avoid peak heat
- Camp accommodation + transport + food provided if based at remote site
- Exposure to dust, heat, and heights

Pay: From AED3,000.00 per month
