Garden Café is looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our team in Pukekohe.

We are well established for our café breakfasts and lunches and are now focused on growing our evening dinner service. We are looking for someone who enjoys creating quality food, contributing new ideas,and helping build an exciting dining destination.

About the Role

As our Chef, you will:

• Prepare and cook high-quality café breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner meals.
• Assist in developing exciting seasonal menus and dinner specials.
• Create attractive food presentations with consistent quality.
• Support the growth of our evening dining experience.
• Manage food preparation, stock control and minimise wastage.
• Order and monitor kitchen supplies.
• Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
• Work closely with management on promotions and new menu ideas.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
• Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.
• Work effectively during busy service periods.

What We're Looking For

The successful applicant will have:

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Chef, or a relevant culinary qualification.
• Strong experience in café-style cooking.
• Experience with dinner service and à la carte menus.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A positive attitude and willingness to contribute ideas.
• High standards of food presentation and consistency.
• Knowledge of New Zealand food safety requirements.

Bonus Skills

Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:

• Modern New Zealand cuisine
• Bistro or gastro pub menus
• Menu engineering and food costing
• Special events and function catering
• Creating profitable food specials
