Job Overview and Responsibilities:
Within the Global Shared Services entity of Solvay, the Human Resources Service Line aims to deliver

HR services for the Group including Payroll & Benefits, Global Mobility, Talent Attraction, Learning & Development, Reporting & HRIS.

In a context of global transformation of the HR entity, the Global Payroll Manager will be responsible for managing and developing an international payroll team, ensuring focus on payroll accuracy and timeliness, and also sponsoring the Payroll modernization journey to harmonize, standardize, modernize and drive business value through the payroll process. The current team size is over 110 employees worldwide, responsible for approximately 36.000 payslips every month, and supporting employee’ payroll-related queries for a population of over 20.000 employees.

The current payroll setup is designed around a unique vendor covering the majority (~95%) of the Solvay employees in 23 countries, with a common system and designed interfaces. The payroll operations are run by an internal payroll team on a regional and country-level structure, that is following a local payroll process and maintaining the information in the payroll system, with local configurations and policies.

The main responsibilities of the position will be to:
Drive the Solvay payroll harmonization and standardization

  • Review the payroll vision and strategy - to drive the modernization and simplification of the process, harmonizing the process while reducing risk and complexity
  • Define the strategy for the 37 countries not currently supported by the team (which represent 5% of the employee HC), to ensure compliance, risk avoidance and payroll cost for those countries
  • Guide the team through the roadmap to drive the payroll modernization with the team
  • Steer the payroll standardization program, aligned with the payroll vision and strategy
  • Identify cost saving opportunities
  • Run RFP process to review, in line with the payroll strategy, the payroll and time vendors and drive the model evolution
  • Identify opportunities for transversal activities

Manage payroll Operations

  • Manage the global Payroll team, which includes Regional Payroll Operations teams, Payroll platform and Payroll Design & Systems team.
  • Ensure an accurate payment to the Employees &/or Retirees, to Social, Tax & Pension Authorities, and the correct delivery of Employee Benefits;
  • Deploy Payroll policies, processes, projects, procedures and objectives, considering legal requirements and Group policies;
  • Ensure best practices sharing across payroll teams
  • Responsible for Key Performance Indicators and using data from a variety of sources to recommend process changes and improvements;
  • Collaborate with HR IS team to implement new tools
  • Collaborate with other HR Service Line teams to ensure the right level of employee support
  • Partners with HR Operations to ensure operational consistency

Education and Experience:

  • Master degree or equivalent
  • 10 years of experience in HR including experience on Payroll multi-country leadership
  • Experience with Payroll standardization
  • Experience working in an HR role for multi-country, regional or global scope
  • Team management experience - experience with remote management is a plus
  • Experience with both SaaS and Managed Services models of payroll is a plus
  • Experience as HR Generalist is a plus
