What you’ll be doing...**

Verizon Enterprise Solutions offers Network Security Engineering (NSE) as a premium architecture and engineering service to augment traditional Managed Network Services (MNS) offerings. As part of this service, Network Security Engineers are designated to provide engineering oversight of the customer´s managed network security services. You should understand the customer´s internetworking environment and is the customer´s technical advisor for current and future technology deployment and adoption. You will utilize consistent and sound engineering principles and industry best practices allowing the customer to rely on them for technical expertise in the implementation and evolution of their architecture. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading global transition and supporting global transformation initiatives for custom managed customer's security customers.
  • Collaborating with the Network Engineering and Project Management to create and implement custom solutions that adhere as closely as possible to existing Design Standards. This level of engineer serves as the security design authority on customer-requested programs.
  • Providing expert level research and analysis for planning, organizing, and managing corporate-wide security functions.
  • Giving presentations via training sessions, web pages, or 1-to-1 training to the floor engineers on designs that are being implemented.
  • Translating functional business requirements into a technical solution that conform to global design standards.
  • Researching developments in the assigned technology disciplines, determining business requirements, proposing changes, and contributing to migration and implementation plans as needed.
  • Understanding and effectively articulating the implications and impact that proposed architectural changes will have on the business (to technical and nontechnical audiences).
  • Representing Verizon's managed security services in technical discussions with the customer. Communicating managed services impact of design decisions that deviate from standards.
  • Developing lab scenarios to mock user environments and test components of proposed solutions.
  • Delivering detailed project documentation to both the customer and operations that fully describes new implementations and is used as the primary reference for day-to-day management.
  • Installing, troubleshooting and configuring all vendor provided tools and providing training on the offering to junior engineers.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.




What we’re looking for...**

You´ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience..
  • Palo Alto Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA), Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE).
  • Fortinet Network Security Expert (FNSE) certification.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Enterprise Gateway environments that include two or more of the following technologies: Firewalls (Versa, Palo Alto, Fortinet, ASA/Firepower, Check Point, SRX); Proxy and AV solutions (Bluecoat, Cisco IronPort, Zscaler); Global and Local load balancing (F5, Citrix Netscaler); Remote Access (Palo Alto, Fortinet, ASA/Firepower, Pulse Secure, F5 APM); Enterprise Management Administration (Panorama, Fortimanager, Cisco Security Manager, Provider-1, Big IQ).
  • Knowledge of industry trends in all areas of Information Security.
  • Experience working in 24 x 7 centers with complex, high transaction, high availability environments.
  • Knowledge of networking technologies, e.g. Cisco routers and switches.
  • Experience with both physical and network/host level security.
  • Strong, multidiscipline, operations and implementations experience.
  • Knowledge of external services environments including SSL certificate exchange, Remote access solutions, and Business to Business interconnects.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Willingness to travel.

  • A degree.
  • A Computer Science Degree.
  • ITIL - Version 3 certification.
  • System knowledge including ESP, ETMS, SMARTS, Sev1, and Assure1.
  • Experience with F5-CA, CTS: LTM/GTM/ASM/APM/iRules; CCNA-Security, CCNP-Security; BCCPA, BCCPP; CCSA, CCSE; or JNCIS-SEC, JNCIP-SEC.
  • Versa SDWAN UTM experience.
  • Knowledge of CISSP or GIAC.
  • Linux/Unix skills & scripting.
