The Role...

We are looking for a Data Engineering Manager to join our Data Domain in which we are looking ahead to the next phase of our data platform across real time data processing and creating machine learning pipelines.

You and your newly formed data engineering team will be working as part of a multiple location environment contributing to deliver top-notch products that delight our customers.

Using lean and agile methodologies, you will be responsible for the pace, scale, and performance of your team delivery. Having a technical background, with experience in all aspects of software delivery processes, from inception to release, will set you up for success.

As the Data Engineering Manager, you will also be accountable for hiring, performance appraisal, and reward of your team, focusing on helping your people define their career path and goals for the short and long term.

Your exceptional communication skills will be key, not only to lead your team through a challenging, continuously changing environment, but also to your constant interactions with a diverse group of stakeholders.

What you'll bring:
We are looking for someone who can exercise and develop their core leadership skills both from a technical and people management point of view and has a passion for imparting knowledge and a proven ability to grow a team and lead it to success.

  • A strong technology background, with experience of data engineering, data warehouse development, or software development looking to move into the big data environment
  • Experience of working with cross-functional teams, including Project Managers and other stakeholders to define the roadmap for data products and translate this into user stories
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across all product verticals and coordinate delivery activities
  • Lead, inspire, motivate and manage a newly created Data team;
  • Coach, hold 1 to 1s, set and review objectives, appraise performance, and assist with career development, ensuring effective performance management;
  • Serve as liaison between the delivery team and key stakeholder(s);
  • Drive the team to continuously improve processes in an always changing environment;
  • Maximize employee retention through motivation and strong management;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English and Portuguese);
