Description
Mazars Accounting Technical Services (ATS) team provides accounting technical support and advice, both internally to our members of staff and externally to our clients. They mainly support audit and assurance work by providing assistance to Mazars' auditteamsnationally on a number of diverse areas. The team provides accounting and corporate reporting support to Mazars audit teams and clients in all strategic markets and sectors, across a number of accounting frameworks, although principally IFRS and UKGAAP (including FRS 101 and FRS 102).
Job Purpose
Role & Responsibilities
As a member of the Accounting Technical Services team, you will be part of a team that collaborates well to successfully support our audit colleagues and clients within the UK. Your role and responsibilities will include:
- Addressing accounting and financial reporting technical queries;
- Reviewing financial statements for compliance with IFRS and UK GAAP, including FRS 101 and FRS 102;
- Providing tailored accounting technical support to key audit clients;
- Assisting with audit proposals;
- Being involved in Mazars Audit Quality monitoring process from an accounting and financial reporting perspective;
- Assisting with the preparation of internal and external technical publications and guidance for audit teams; and
- Supporting the Accounting Technical Services team on other accounting technical matters.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- You will have a sound technical understanding from completing your ACA/ACCA (or equivalent) accounting qualification and have robust technical accounting knowledge of IFRS, UK GAAP and UK Company Law.
- Experience of working at an Assistant Manager level or above in a professional services firm within a similar accounting technical role.
- Experience with evaluating technical issues, analysing facts, consulting and delivering solutions to audit teams and/or clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially writing formal reasoned technical responses.
- Experience of writing technical publications and technical guidance will be beneficial.
- The ability to prioritise and organise work, with strong attention to detail.
- Works well with others in the team, maintaining high standards of quality and demonstrating commitment to self-development.
- Experience of specialist sectors, particularly the insurance industry, will be beneficial.
