Our specialist Risk Consulting team provide services to across our strategic markets:

  • Financial Services: Our team are one of the largest dedicated providers of Risk Assurance services to the financial sector, we work with many banks, insurance and asset management companies including FTSE, SEC, privately owned, as wellas over 60% of the Lloyd's market.
  • Industry & Services: Predominately private sector clients, ranging in size from large and listed multinational organisations, to small owner-managed businesses across multiple sectors throughout the UK and overseas.
  • Public Services: Our team provide distinctive audit and advisory services across six sectors - local government, central government, health and social care, housing and charities.

Job Purpose An area of growth in the market that we have identified is Change & Programme Assurance, therefore we are looking to find an individual who has had recent experience of working on projects/programmes and/or has provided assurance services within the publicsector domain.

As an Assistant Manager in the Risk Consulting team, you will be responsible for delivering risk-based programme/project assurance engagements and internal audit work to a range of clients within the public & social sector. You will work closely with clientsand be committed to providing exceptional programme/project assurance services.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Independently delivering project/programme assurance engagements across the whole project lifecycle.
  • Deliver and/or assistant on other special assignments (e.g. planning, testing reviews) as and when required.
  • Assessing change/project delivery methodologies e.g. Agile and Waterfall.
  • Supporting planning and preparation of draft reports in line with agreed timescales.
  • Building strong working relationships with the client, delivering fieldwork in a timely manner and ensuring any problems or requests are dealt with promptly.
  • Responding to the needs of the client and team members.
  • Maintaining high quality delivery under constraints whilst delivering within deadlines.
  • Considering the needs and skills of those under supervision, organising tasks and responsibilities.
  • Performance managing and reviewing more junior team staff over project/programme assurance fieldwork.
  • Providing on-the-job supervision of junior team members.
  • Ensure standards and procedures maintained by whole team.
  • Assess and produce high quality work in line with the Firm's policy and processes, meeting relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Providing constructive feedback for the completion of team member performance appraisals.
  • Ability to make confident and clear presentations of service features and benefits to clients.
  • Identify opportunities and prospects for new work.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience of delivering reviews within the Public Services domain.
  • A project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) is preferable.
  • Preferable to hold either ACA, CA, ACCA, IIA or CII (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Recent experience of working on projects and programmes and/or having provided change assurance services over them.
  • Strong understanding of the end to end project management lifecycle including project delivery methodologies such as waterfall and agile.
  • Good understanding of the key risks and challenges faced by projects and programmes.
  • Good understanding of technical issues in the risk and change assurance sectors.
  • Good interpersonal and client handling skills.
  • Experience of managing, training and coaching staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Actively seeks to enhance expertise and knowledge.
  • Ability to develop new initiatives and methodologies.
  • Provides assistance, shares experience, provides meaningful feedback and proactively supports the development of others.
  • Takes ownership of projects, effectively delegates to others within the team and takes responsibility for quality control.
  • Begins to develop a network of client contacts and contacts in the wider market.
