Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

We're looking for an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join our Finance team in Bristol, to ensure the smooth running of all our payroll-related tasks. The main stakeholders and customers of this team's data and processes, including; People Hub Director, Head of People Operations, People Services Manager, Head of Tax, Head of Finance Operations, Workday Payroll Analyst, Senior Reward Analyst, Head of Reward.

You will be reporting into Senior Payroll Manager within the Finance Operations team and working across workstreams with People and Reward teams supporting all processes from a payroll perspective.

What will I be doing?

You will be in control of the end to end monthly payroll process ensuring our payroll processes deliver timely and accurate pay and reward to our 5,000+ people, and supporting the Senior Payroll Manager in the leading and delivery of the in house payroll processes to an exceptional standard.

_ Key responsibilities include:_

  • Lead, engage and support the payroll team of approximately 4 payroll professionals.
  • Team training, coaching and development - inspire the team to deliver operational processes and projects to an exceptional quality.
  • Assist in the full end to end payroll process.
  • Ensuring payroll variations are all up to date to include additions, deductions and any variable pay issues that arise.
  • Ensure the production of all leaver payslips and P45s
  • Administration of statutory leave (SAP, SPP, SMP, SSP, SHPP)
  • Ensuring all incoming HMRC notifications are applied and or reviewed
  • Assisting the team to deliver all post payroll reporting
  • Assist with the processing and distribution of P11D and P60s.
  • Assisting with monthly pension and workplace benefits processes.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the ask payroll/jira ticketing system and ensuring the team are responding to any payroll queries within the agreed SLA.
  • Improve and update payroll processes in order to deliver a seamless and streamline payroll process including compliance with all associated regulatory obligations.
  • Improving and updating reporting requirements - reviewing and refining the suite of payroll reports on an ongoing basis working with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensuring the team produce all necessary KPI data by the required deadline each month and provide the collated data to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist on payroll impacting projects working cross functionally with senior stakeholders, directors and sponsors.
  • Reporting any required system/configuration changes to the payroll super user and ensuring all updates are made within required timeframes.
  • Provide cover where necessary to the senior payroll manager.

Ideally you will have:

  • At least 5 years previous payroll experience, from at least 2 different companies
  • CIPP qualified or equivalent
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll legislation
  • Excellent communication skills - A strong influencer with ability to manage and work in partnership with key stakeholders throughout the business
  • Track record of delivering process improvements and change across systems, data, process and people
  • Experience in running a full end to end monthly payroll with excellent attention to detail and meeting strict deadlines
  • Experience in leading a team with proven ability to engage, develop, and inspire
  • Strong problem solving skills - it will be second nature to you
  • Experience in year end reporting including P11ds and P60s
  • Previous experience working with Workday would be preferable
