Safety Officer
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to current legal guidelines.
- Must keep up to date with all Work Health and Safety laws and guidelines.
- Prepare and enforce policies and procedures to establish a culture of health and safety
- Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the current laws
- Regularly review practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the current laws
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Monitor compliance with policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
Requirements:
- Good planning, organisational, analytical and decision-making skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Confidentiality, tact and discretion when dealing with people.
- Must have formal qualifications (such as cert IV in WHS) or minimum 3 years’ fulltime experience as a safety officer.

- Comply with any reasonable instructions, policies and procedures

- Follow company instructions
- Ask if you are not sure how to safely perform the work
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) in the way you were instructed to use it
- Report injuries, unsafe and unhealthy situations.

- Hi-vis vest or Hi-vis shirt
- Steel capped work boots
- Hard hat
