Safety Officer

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to current legal guidelines.
• Must keep up to date with all Work Health and Safety laws and guidelines.
• Prepare and enforce policies and procedures to establish a culture of health and safety
• Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the current laws
• Regularly review practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the current laws
• Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
• Monitor compliance with policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
• Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions

Requirements:

• Good planning, organisational, analytical and decision-making skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Confidentiality, tact and discretion when dealing with people.
• Must have formal qualifications (such as cert IV in WHS) or minimum 3 years’ fulltime experience as a safety officer.

• Comply with any reasonable instructions, policies and procedures
• Work safely
• Follow company instructions
• Ask if you are not sure how to safely perform the work
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) in the way you were instructed to use it
• Report injuries, unsafe and unhealthy situations.

• BSB30715 Certificate III in Work Health and Safety
• Hi-vis vest or Hi-vis shirt
• Steel capped work boots
• Hard hat
