Summary

The Learning and Development (L&D) team ensures that Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) staff and leadership are equipped with the mindsets and skills required to engage with the complex challenges of pursuing the Wikimedia Foundation mission and vision: to build a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.

As Lead Learning & Development Specialist, you are responsible for leading the development of an end-to-end learning experience that spans the entire employee lifecycle; a learning experience that plants the seed of curiosity during onboarding, and nurtures it all the way through departure from the organization. In collaboration with a team of dedicated HR and learning professionals, your impact here will be to develop a growing global workforce that can deliver on our audacious mission and vision by cultivating a scalable culture of curiosity, increasing employee effectiveness, and fostering deep professional growth.

You are responsible for:

• Lead development of end-to-end learning experience spanning entire lifecycle, including onboarding, skill development, professional growth
• Lead development of strategy for leveraging our learning experience platform to support learning in a wide variety of formats (from ad-hoc distributed and asynchronous learning, to live and virtual in-person workshops)
• Lead the design and development of a community of practice of learning leaders from across the organization
• Develop and maintain workflow for meeting training needs around organizational changes, initiatives, policies, procedures, as well as supporting the training needs of the various departments
• Develop evaluation methods and criteria for Learning initiatives
• Collaborate closely with and support development of Learning and Development staff

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in related field + 8 years related work experience - or Master's degree in related field + 6 years related work experience - or equivalent work experience
• Demonstrable experience and fluency with instructional or experience design
• Experience leading complex teams and projects, ideally in a distributed environment
• Experience implementing learning and training metrics and evaluation
• Strong facilitation skills
• Ability to work in a global, open, transparent, and collaborative environment, while respecting HR confidentiality
• Ability to listen with true curiosity to understand others' perspectives, and communicate your own clearly and non-judgmentally
• Passion for learning and supporting adult development

Additionally, we'd love it if you have:

• Experience working on a globally distributed team
• Experience and familiarity with learning platforms such as Degreed and LearnUpon
• Coaching experience
• Working knowledge of adult development and deliberately developmental organizations
• A strong sense of compassion for yourself and others
• The ability to laugh at yourself
