Scania is transforming from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions. This will require new ways of thinking and working. We need to develop the capabilities to deliver complete solutions with speed and flexibility in close customer collaboration and do this in a way that inspires and empowers our employees.

With an industry transformation underway, setting a common direction, clearly communicating it, and building the momentum to get there has never been more important. Are you enthusiastic about driving change in a big organization? Do you have the strategic mindset and grit to make it happen? If so, you might be the one we are looking for to take on the role of Business Developer with a focus on Strategy.

The position

You will become part of a team that owns and facilitates Purchasing’s strategy process, including strategy formulation, roll-out and follow-up. As such, you will have a shared responsibility together with the rest of the team to influence the strategic direction of Scania Purchasing. You will be an important part of translating Scania’s purpose, our corporate targets, and focus areas into tangible actions and development areas within Purchasing.

You will also support purchasing's management team in various assignments and projects. The tasks are varying in scope and complexity. Some previous examples include: How do we prepare for a potential Brexit, What does Scania’s lean-agile transformation mean for Purchasing, or how do we accelerate our efforts around Lead Buying within Traton.

You will be working collaboratively with your fellow team members, with colleagues in other purchasing departments as well as with stakeholders outside purchasing. Our team is the main interface to Scania’s strategic network and we are usually Purchasing’s participants in cross-functional strategic projects underway.

Who are you?

We believe that you are self-motivated and have the ability to structure your work, break down problems and develop feasible solutions. You are a strong communicator and find smart ways to present complex issues, communicating and collaborating effectively with your multiple interfaces.

You have a positive mindset, and you are a genuine team player who is happy to reach out to anyone whose perspective adds value. You listen to others and are open to changing your mind, while also being brave enough to stand up for what you know to be right.

English is your everyday language at work, while fluency in Swedish is an advantage. You have a relevant university master’s degree, for example, within business or engineering, and you have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience from a business development role, management consulting, or Scania Purchasing.

What we offer

We offer an interesting and challenging job with room to try new ideas and an arena to influence our strategic direction. You will get a holistic perspective of our purchasing operation and how it is managed to address our long-term challenges. With multiple interfaces across purchasing and Scania, you will have the opportunity to build a strong network within the company, across departments and hierarchies.

Perhaps most importantly, you will join a diverse department and team where we care for, encourage and challenge each other every day to achieve fantastic results we are all proud of. It’s not only a place full of skilled colleagues, but also a place where laughter is never far away and where a helping hand when you need it is ever-present.
