Job description:

• Accurate and timeous submission of accident/ Incident reports
• Maintaining an Accident control register and Safety statistics database
• Timeous submission on Rand Mutual documentation
• Conducting SHEQ audits and inspections and compiling SHEQ audit and inspection reports
• Legal compliance audits and reports
• Facilitating the risk assessment process
• Identifying risk factors / leading indicators for the organization
• Critical area analysis and reporting
• Facilitating and monitoring the effectiveness of Safety and Risk initiatives
• Update and maintenance of standards and procedures on the electronic library
• Facilitating, implementation and maintaining risk management systems
• Effective self and team management in alignment with M&RC's values and leadership

Minimum requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• National Diploma in Safety / Risk Management or equivalent at NQF Level 6 [advantageous]
• Section 26 Fitter Trade Certificate / MIETTB (mining Industry Engineering Trades Training Board) Trade Certificate through a registered body
• COMSOC 1 & 2
• Valid Medical certificate of Fitness
• Covid-19 Coronavirus Vaccination Certificate [Site Specific]
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Proficient in MS Office [Word, Excel]
• Valid EB driver's license

• 3 years of experience in a relevant engineering field as a Safety Officer in an underground mining environment
• Understanding of incident and accident techniques
• Ability to conduct investigation and record findings
• Hazard identifications skills
• Problem solving mindset with ability to make recommendation
• Sound knowledge of Rand mutual processes (advantageous)
• Basic knowledge of relevant safety principles and systems
