Organic Garden Worker

Duties:

• Transplant seedlings grown indoors and outdoors
• Prepare beds where vegetables will be grown
• Fertilizing with compost and manure
• Prepare compost, mix compost and operate wood chipper to create brown matter for composting
• Weeding - using manual hand tools
• Use various garden tools and equipment
• Install and maintain the irrigation system
• building trellises for climbing vegetables and vines
• selecting and picking fruit, vegetables and mushrooms according to size and ripeness, and discarding rotting and over-ripened produce
• Wash and pack the harvested vegetables
• Storing produce in the cool room

• loading filled fruit and vegetable crates containers onto trucks
  Physical Requirements:

• This position demands good physical and mental health.

• The garden worker will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull, bend and work outdoors.
• Heavy loads may need to be carried

• Ability to work in various weather conditions

• Likes working outdoors and being in various weather conditions
• Can adapt to nature’s unpredictability
• Ability to multi-task with effective time management skills.
• Knowledge of organic gardening techniques and familiarity with Biogro Organic Standards is a bonus but training will be provided.
• Vaccination passport is required as you may come in touch with vulnerable people

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $22.75 per hour
