Venetia Mine is South Africa’s most valuable diamond mine. As we develop the mine underground, it is also one of the largest infrastructure projects in the country. Venetia Underground Project (VUP) is a complexed underground mechanised development, shaft and mine construction project to deliver an operational Sub Level Cave mine operation. Experienced and effective management and control of the project works and mining operations through major contractors (EPC, Mining Contractor) and owner functions is essential for Safe, timely and effective delivery of the project.
Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Supply Chain Manager to join our Venetia Family. This is a key role within the team where your duties will include:
Leadership in the optimization of enquiry documents and processes aligned to the Company’s standards
- Manage and monitor adherence to Safety, Health and Environmental programme goals and objectives to ensure adherence to organisational objectives and legislative requirements.
Under limited supervision will provide a cost-effective procurement function focusing on procurement package plans, the containment of costs, creation of value, the management of commercial risk inherent to the procurement process and maintaining adherence to policies and procedures. More specifically the incumbent’s duties will include the management and co-ordination of the following procurement activities:
Establish sound governance framework to support procurement activities.
- Ensure end-user education and compliance to the governance framework.
- Implements appropriate strategies to optimise logistics, purchasing, inventory management and warehousing.
- Recommends, in liaison with the originator, tenderers to invite to tender based on an analysis of the technical information provided by the originator
- Prepares enquiry documents ensuring maximum safeguards and benefits to the company, based on information provided by the originator (e.g. technical specifications, commercial factors)
- Issues enquiries to selected tenderers, clarifies tenders.
- Commercially evaluates tenders received, making recommendation.
- Guides originator and relevant stakeholders on legal and contractual implications of tenders during adjudication process.
- Reviews and identifies opportunities for improvement in logistics, warehousing, inventory management, repairs management and purchasing activities
- Progresses the tender package through the system to ensure timely placing of the contract
- Negotiates most favorable conditions such as terms of payment and delivery dates prior to contract award
- Prepares contract document and incorporates any changes agreed between the Contractor and the Company.
- Establish and maintain sound contract administration and management practices across the operation
- Effective supplier relationship management through establishing and maintaining relationships with contracted suppliers
- Ensure compliance with the company Code of Conduct and Business Ethics and Corporate Governance Company Policies and Procedures and Legislation
- Give due consideration to Preferential Procurement with regards to BEE, Local Procurement, Social Responsibility (SED) and previously Disadvantaged Suppliers.
Qualifications
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/ Std 10/N3 or relevant NQF level 4 qualification
- Bachelors Degree - Supply Chain, Finance or Law
- Minimum of 10 years relevant commercial and business experience in a Underground mining environment.
- 5 years of management Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Valid EB/Code 08 Drivers License
- Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate) on mine
SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES:
- Thorough understanding of contract management
- Extensive work experience in SAP MM
- Experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Sound commercial and financial knowledge
- Fully understands Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) and the associated ERP functionality
- Excellent commodity knowledge and skills
- Ability to manage diversity and promote a high performance culture
