Within Group BNP Paribas Finance Function, Europe, Middle East &Africa (EMEA) Finance is the department that measures, controls and explains the financial reporting of the Region’s entities, covering a large part of BNP Paribas Business Lines. EMEA Finance is a cross-border organization with teams operating in Paris, Madrid and Lisbon on behalf of the different countries of the Region.

In the EMEA Finance organization, the Subject Matter Streams - Capital Markets Products (SMS-CMP) department ensure an accurate, reliable and comprehensive set of segmented financial data required for the production of all Reporting streams in relation with Capital Markets Business Lines.

Your Main Activities Are

  • Contributing to the monitoring of Capital Market Businesses by undertaking the Trading Book Risk and Accounting reconciliation. Main financial instruments in scope are Derivatives, Bonds and Repos. This reconciliation assures the consistency and reliability of balance sheet indicators related to Capital Markets activities used in Market Risk computations and Financial statements
  • Preparing the reconciliation in anticipation of quarterly closings
  • Organising with Finance IT the timely execution of the reconciliation and assure all sources of information are available
  • Performing an analytical review of reconciliation bridges and breaks quantities
  • Performing in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis of the breaks identified and reach out to gap owners to explain main breaks
  • Challenging the balance sheet indicators provided by RISK from their risk management environment and iteratively build knowledge on structural differences with financial statements
  • Participating into the governance of the reconciliation process and notably present the reconciliation results to the entities in scope
  • Providing assistance in answering questions from Operations (Middle Offices and Back offices), RISK, other departments concerned by the reconciliation and external parties
  • Follow up on remediation actions
  • Making suggestions to improve operational processes, tools, control framework and team’s efficiency

Profile and Skills to Success

  • Master’s degree or equivalent by experience in Finance/Accounting/Audit/Economics
  • Up to 5 years of relevant experience in Accounting, Tax and Prudential Norms;
  • Significant knowledge of financial markets and products with emphasis on Equity Derivatives & Commodities, with specialization in Corporate actions securities or OTC products being a strong plus;
  • Working knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, both in IFRS and French GAAP (an asset);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (emphasis on Excel and Access) is mandatory; Business Objects and data analytics software are a strong plus;
  • Controls oriented profile with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proactive, motivated and willing to absorb new concepts, organization and Information System in a challenging environment
  • Rigorous, well-organized, autonomous with a structured and logical approach
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with ability to synthetize
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet established deadlines in a fast pace work environment

  • Knowledge of foreign languages : English (B2 Level, CECRL certificate) is mandatory, French (A2/B1 Level, CECRL certificate) is a plus
