TRADE FINANCE OFFICER (JOB NUMBER: 2112LCF9168)

Your Main Activities Are

  • Process Trade Finance operations (Letters of Credit; Collections, International Cheques) and Guarantees in full compliance with international standard practices and regulations
  • Perform all the controls to ensure Know Your Transaction Procedures according with Internal Group Procedures
  • Acknowledge and resolve in a timely manner inquiries received from internal and external clients, providing technical advice and support
  • Ensure the correct booking of operations and related fees/commissions
  • Commissions/fees control, requests, overdues follow up and reconciliation
  • Monitor the Operations Lifecycle end-to-end, escalating any potential issues to the Head of Team
  • Handle, manage and analysis of original documentation
  • Strive for quality and efficiency improvement through actively revising and improving processes, procedures, and data quality
  • Contribute to organization and performance related topics: Workload planning and distribution of responsibilities, operational controls, improvement action plans
  • Liaise with the several stakeholders on a daily basis (i.e. Local Coverage, European Corporate Hub, Client Service Desk, Legal Department, Compliance)
  • Provide technical advice and support to internal and external clients
  • Production of Monthly Reports

Profile and Skills to Success

  • University degree, preferably in Business/Banking/Finance (or related areas)
  • 2 to 3 years of experience, ideally in Banking & Financial Operations or Controls
  • Knowledge of Trade Finance products and Guarantees (preferably)
  • Swift Alliance practice (preferably)
  • Fluency in English - both verbal and written - is mandatory
  • Rigorous, attention to detail and risk awareness
  • Highly organized and proactive
  • Excellent analysis capacity and problem solving
  • Good sense of priorities and deadlines
  • Flexible, resilient and able to adapt
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools: Advanced Excel and MS-Word

About the Team
The Trade Finance Operations Team is a key department within BNP Paribas Portugal Branch. The team is responsible for the issuance and management of Letters of Credit, Documentary Collections, Standby letters of Credit, International Cheques and Guarantees.

This position reports to the Head of Team of Trade Finance Operations.
