Goodnature develops products that make it easy for everyone to create sanctuaries in their backyard,sho wever big. We are committed to providing pragmatic solutions to one of our most serious environmental problems - biodiversity decline. This is through the design and manufacture of automatic traps that humanely kill pest animals and then reset themselves. The traps are humane, toxin-free, and have been designed to save users time and effort.
The role
This newly created role will work collaboratively alongside our Full Stack Developer and Tester in developing our suite of software products. Your work will add significant value to our overall product offering to customers from traps to apps. You-ll be pivotal in making our products effective and a pleasure to use, and you-ll be making a significant difference to conservation outcomes globally, with connected and digitally-enabled products core to Goodnature-s strategy to Rewild the World.
Your main area of work will be working on the Android version of our app. You-ll be our dedicated Android Developer, working on both new app development and maintenance of our existing app.
A core part of your role will be writing code to interface with our IoT hardware product that uses Bluetooth Low Energy, and/or other possible connectivity technologies we move forward with. You don-t necessarily need Bluetooth experience, but you-ll need to have an aptitude for learning new technologies to a high level of expertise.
Depending on your skill set you could also be involved in server side work in Kotlin, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL or front end web development React, although skills in these work areas aren-t pre-requisites for the role - the important thing is that you-re at the top of your game as a NativeAndroid developer.
As an early part of a small but growing in-house software development team, this role offers scope to demonstrate and grow your technical leadership skills.
About you
You will have several years experience in Native Android Software development and proven ability to lead and deliver Android products from inception to market. Because
of this experience, you will also have the skills and experience necessary to assess the quality of our current software and make sound decisions about technology selection and code architecture for future product development. Additionally you will:
Have solid expertise in Native Android app development in Java or Kotlin. We prefer Kotlin for new development, but if you-re currently Java-only we-re happy for you to learn on the job. Have an appetite to explore new cutting edge technologies, and be our in-house authority on all things Android. Be excited by and have the ability to work across the full development lifecycle from build to release. Work well with non-technical team members to help shape the development pipeline. Be a collaborator who can work within cross-disciplinary teams with ease, for instance with Hardware Engineers in developing IoT solutions. Self-motivated and able to get things done autonomously with only light project management processes. Optionally, you have experience working with Spring Boot, React web and PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
