Job Purpose

The Senior Accountant is responsible for booking all accounting transactions in the day to day running of the Finance Department for the COFCO International Porto office, which include invoices and travel expenses bookings, schedule and process payments, receivables bookings, general accounting bookings, depreciations, taxation, accounts payables/receivables reconciliations, ageing reports; credit risk analyses, period close reports. Ensure compliance of the internal control standards throughout the work circuit and systems tools, and provide support to the junior accountants of their team.

Responsibilities:
Post a purchase order invoice;
Post a purchase return - credit memo;
Post foreign currency vendor invoice;
Post invoices without purchase order;
Investigate and resolve invoice exceptions;
Post travel expenses;
Filing - digital.
Schedule and process payments.
Receivables, process new customer credit assessment requests, credit limit updates and monitor existing portfolio credit risk;
Receive, validate and monitor customer Contracts and Sales Orders;
Receive, process, generate and distribute customer billing;
Manage and Process deductions (tax retention);
Manage and Process Collections;
Manage and approve the delivery of orders;
Manage and Process disputes;
Control applied-cash remittances, credits, adjustments and refunds. Provide clear visibility of AR Ledger to the client and the internal areas;
Respond to Customer requests and inquiries;
Post receivables.
Post general ledger;
Post a journal voucher;
Request, approval and posting of manual journal entries in the General Ledger and control for journal entries from interfaces;
Manage all interfaces between G/L and other systems;
End to end processing between companies: invoicing, recording transactions, solving disputes, reconciliations and query management;
Confirm the balance sheet of GL accounts, identify open items and perform a consistent follow up until resolution;
Process of creating standard financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, etc.) and supplementary reports according to appropriate accounting principles;
Create financial statement version;
Define field status variant and field status group;
Assign field status to a variant company;
Define document type and number range in SAP;
Post a document with a reference;
Hold a G/L document posting;
Park a G/L document posting.

Closing Period

Reconciliations;
Ageing reports;
Performance report.
Create a fiscal year and assign company code to a fiscal year variant;
Define posting period variant;
Open and close periods;
Monthly, quarterly and/ or annual process of final period entries, variation analysis, G/L closing, consolidation of results and preliminary development of the financial balance.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher qualifications in Accounting/Finance/Economy or related discipline;
4+ years’ experience in the Accounting field;
