Purpose:
Senior Picture Editor is responsible for Assembling all raw footage with camera shots either recorded or transferred packages to live, overseeing the quality of progress and quality control of the project to the Alaraby TV standards and is an excellent leader to be able to lead, supervise and assign tasks.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To lead, create and deliver primarily video / moving image assets for Alaraby, both on and offsite delivering to briefs and ensuring creative excellence.
  • Assembling all raw footage with camera shots either recorded or transferred onto videotape in preparation for inputting the computer
  • Inputting uncut rushes and sound, and synchronizing and storing them into files on the computer
  • Digitally cutting the files to put together the sequence of the film and deciding what is usable
  • Creating an or assembly edit of the programme / film and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stages
  • Reordering and tweaking the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the film/video
  • Overseeing the quality and progress of audio and video engineering and editing
  • Quality control the final product before broadcasting to reflect Alaraby TV policies and approaches.
  • Reporting on and monitoring quality assurance of sites.
  • Meeting the OFCOM standards.
  • Understand our technical standards
  • Understands & meets channels broadcast & audio/video standards
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a Live news environment
  • Ability to lead, supervise and assign jobs to his team of editors

Skills:

  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience of working on a busy picture desk -ideally broadcast but if not, then within a busy media title
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Adobe Premiere and/or different editing software
  • Capacity to communicate with multilingual staff.
  • A creative eye and artistic sensibility
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve targets within deadline
  • Good organisational skill

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written skills in Arabic is Essential
  • 5 years experience in relevant field
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
