The Ontario studio of Perkins&Will, is a multi-disciplinary firm specializing in the design of public spaces and buildings, including recreation centres, libraries, and academic facilities. We have a growing award-winning urban design and planning practice specializing in transit studies, planning frameworks, streetscape design, resilience and sustainability, and built form policy. We are looking for a Planning Student to join our studio for 4 months.

We combine deep regional roots with a global network of Perkins and Will studios in 25 cities around the world. Within this body of work there is a strong emphasis on research and sustainable design; our research labs are continuously developing new knowledge to allow our creativity and curiosity to impact our projects and their communities.
In recent years, we have helped shape Toronto’s First Resilience Strategy, led the award-winning plan for the Meadoway, applied advanced computational modelling to shape liveable development at Yonge and Eglinton, and worked with our community partners in Jane-Finch to design the National Urban Design Award-winning Corner Commons - a new community hub.
- Developing planning solutions for projects of varying scales and complexities
- Data collection, analysis, and assessment
- Writing and summarizing planning analysis, findings, and recommendations
- Demonstrating key planning concepts in clear, accessible, and creative graphic representations
- Supporting marketing and business development activities
Qualifications:
- Working towards an undergraduate or Masters degree in planning, urban design, or architecture. We are also considering recent graduates or current students, based on work experience.
- Knowledge of local and regional planning policies and regulatory frameworks such as Official Plans and Zoning By-laws
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent technical, quantitative, and analytical skills relating to planning matters
- Experience in designing and facilitating community engagement workshops or meetings
- Professional membership or registration (RPP, OAA, OALA) is an asset
- Knowledge of GIS, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is an asset

Our Studio:
Due to COVID-19 we have moved to a hybrid work model. We are steps away from many amenities and also easily accessible by bike, public transportation and car. The studio is open concept and represents our collaborative approach to our work.
