Eligibility: UAE Nationals
Responsible for overall safe, reliable and efficient management of the S3 power plant, water chemistry and environmental compliance and related issues in accordance with prudent industry standards, original equipment manufacturers’ recommendations, SAOM’s Standard Operating Procedures or as directed by the Production Manager. He/she is responsible for monitoring compliance to environmental standards, regulations and guidelines for all plant systems and emissions. Responsible to provide technical advice regarding the environment inspect of all the plant systems and devices. Directs the work of Chemists.
Minimum Qualification
- Degree in Chemistry / Environment or Chemical Engineering.
- Ten years of power generating plant experience must.
- Ability to take direction, responsibility and lead others.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze a problem and pursue it to a successful conclusion.
- Strong leadership with good inter-personal and communication skills.
- Capable of handling multiple tasks and assignments.
- Knowledge of all applicable compliance standards as required in the UAE.

Job Requirements
The duties and responsibilities of the Lead Chemist include but are not limited to the following:
- Monitors the operation of the S3 water treatment plant and demineralizers to assure consistent makeup water quality, makes frequent visual inspections, and checks for abnormal conditions.
- Monitors the chemical limits of the makeup water, the frequency of routine demineralizer regeneration and takes action to ensure that maximum permissible limits are not exceeded.
- Ensures that appropriate quality and quantities of chemicals are fed to the different water consistently to assure proper water quality.
- Communicates with the Maintenance Department by means of a Work Request to ensure that equipment malfunctions affecting water quality, such as a condenser tube, receive prompt maintenance.
- Monitors all cooling water chemistry to assure consistent water quality, and takes action to ensure that maximum permissible limits are not exceeded. Makes frequent visual inspections, and checks for abnormal conditions.
- Conducts water sampling and tests.
- Monitors fuel oil and gas chemistry to ensure that it is within the design specification. Promptly advises the Shift Charge Engineer / Production Manager of any deviation from fuel specifications which could adversely affect the operation of HRSG.
- Provide technical assistance in interpreting laboratory test results, and advise on impact of test results to the plant operation.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
