About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a
* Highway Maintenance Operative to join our Regional team to
*work across North Cumbria, based out of our Dalston Depot.
Role Purpose:
- Ensuring the health, safety and welfare standards are maintained;
- Ensuring the efficient execution of all operations in accordance with the contract requirements;
- Ensuring compliance with Balfour Beatty’s Management Systems.
What you'll be doing
As a Highway Maintenance Operative you will:
- Undertake activities, as instructed, with capabilities to ensure that your area of responsibility is maintained. This includes civils works such as carriageway reinstatements and ironwork renewals and also cyclic activities such as sign cleaning, landscaping and winter maintenance operations;
- Implement Chapter 8 compliant Traffic Management in line with CPS policies, method statements, risk assessments and industry standards;
- Use mobile communication/data devices to accurately input data for record purposes to form reports and business records;
- Participation in stand by and winter maintenance rotas;
- Attend and participate in site specific daily task briefings, regular tool box talks and safety briefings;
- Maintain accurate and up to date driving records in line with legislation.
Who we're looking for
Personal Qualities and Experience:
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Full UK Driving Licence (Class 1 or 2 LGV);
- Self-motivated and proactive in delivering solutions.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Lantra 12D Qualification;
- Customer relationship skills;
- City and Guilds Winter Maintenance;
- CITB Telehandler qualification.
