Network Administrator

Summary

Manage and maintain the company’s IT assets in the following areas:

  • LAN/WAN communications
  • Active Directory
  • Corporate printer fleet

Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain various LAN/WAN network equipment including switches, patch panels, switch cabinets, and UPS units.
  • Co-ordinate with cabling contractors to install and maintain network communications cabling such as cat5/6, fibre, and phone lines.
  • Work with MPLS and Internet Service Providers to install and maintain external communication lines, troubleshoot communication issues, etc.
  • Perform proactive network capacity and equipment end-of-life management activities.
  • Install and maintain printers across the company.
  • Perform asset management and inventorying of all LAN/WAN/printer equipment.
  • Create and modify accounts for onboarding/offboarding employees.
  • Perform a backup role for unified communications.
  • Help administer the corporate unified communications platform (Phone, Meetings, Chat, Collaboration, etc.), ensuring high uptime and availability; troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Help maintain documentation and provide training to end-users in the proper use of the corporate unified communications platform.
  • Help manage the corporate spam and filtering of mail.
  • Work with the entire IT team to enforce network security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the definition of standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics.
  • Assist in evaluating new requirements, technical design and standards.
  • Work closely with both IT and business partners to design and implement solutions supporting business needs.
  • Within a team, design and implement critical business systems aligned with corporate strategic direction.

Technical Requirements

  • Configure and deploy standard switch configurations; experience with HP, Aruba, Dell, Cisco
  • Understanding of basic routing, VLANS, trunks, and other switch configuration protocols
  • Ability to use tools like Microsoft Visio for network diagrams
  • Experience with unified communications tools such as Zoom and Teams
  • Microsoft Active Directory; user maintenance and access permissions
  • Microsoft 365; user maintenance, access permissions, mailbox configuration
  • Windows servers; basic troubleshooting and maintenance
  • PrinterLogic for printer fleet management
  • Some understanding of VMware vSphere
  • Ability to multi-task and manage operational and project related tasks/responsibilities
  • Must be able to act autonomously and manage projects efficiently
  • This role requires the ability to explain & justify design decisions to IT peers and articulate the advantages and risks of alternative solutions
