Job Purpose

Perform the technical duties under the supervision of pharmacists to ensure safe, efficient and timely distribution of drugs.

Duties andResponsibilities

Primary Responsibilitiesand Duties (80%)

2.1 Process Medication Orders

2.1.1 Process medication orders for inpatient and outpatient dispensing which involves typing of prescription, packing and labeling in accordance with stipulated policies, guidelines and department standard operating procedures

2.1.2 Perform the following medication reconciliationsteps:

  • Counting and sorting of patient’s own medications

2.2 Inventory Management

2.2.1 Monitor and maintain inventory stock level of drugs in the area of work:

  • Reconciliationof weekly cycle count report
  • Monitoring of stock out situations

2.2.2 Ensure stocks are stocked up properly and tidily according to First-In-First-Out requirement and stipulated storage condition

2.2.3 Perform topping up of omnicell ward stock inthe respective wards

2.2.4 Ensure a proper system of pre-packing medicines

2.2.5 Ensure correct receiving of goods

2.3 Automated Distribution

2.3.1 Daily Operations - REPACKAGING PROCESS

2.3.1.1 Deblistering of drugs from primary packaging(IPAS & OPAS ONLY)

2.3.1.2 Secondary repackaging/redressing

2.3.1.3 Unit dose repackaging using ATDPS

2.3.2 Provides oversight for processes of automationsystem

2.3.2.1 Ensures repackaged products from external vendor are according to specified standards

2.4 Housekeeping

2.4.1 Ensure automation processes are in optimal condition

2.4.2 Ensure work area is ready for daily operations

2.4.3 Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy andward areas where drugs are stored

2.4.4 Oversee general housekeeping within the section

2.4.5 Ensure proper maintenance of equipment withinthe respective section

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)

2.5 ADHOC duties or projects as delegated bysection in charge

2.5.1 Perform billing functions

2.5.2 Perform profession and courteous service to al lpatients/customers

2.5.3 Involve in work place quality improvement projects/activities as and when required

2.5.4 Perform nurse request orders

2.6 Supervises repackaging processes

2.6.1 Supervise repackaging of drugs in unit doses or respective packages and bar-coding of products

2.6.2 Resolve repackaging problems

2.6.3 Perform quality control inspection on repackaged products to meet specified standards

Job Specification/Requirements

3.1 Qualification:
3.1.1 Minimum GCE ‘O’ level and/or Polytechnic Diploma (non-Pharmaceutical studies) preferred.

3.2 Experience:
3.2.1 Fresh Diploma Graduate (in non-PharmaceuticalScience) or minimum 2 years pharmacy related experience preferred

3.3 Skills:
3.3.1 Understands and able to use the in-house computer systems.

3.2.2 Able to work with independently with minimum supervision and have good initiative

3.3.2 Able to communicate effectively.

3.3.3 Able to function effectively as a member of a team.
