The Manager, People Development & Engagement is responsible for developing and implementing corporate learning and development strategies and leads the implementation of employee communication & engagement initiatives at CSE. This position will also work with the Sr. Manager, People on strategies to maximize engagement and retention of staff.

A typical day includes:

  • In collaboration with the VP, People, Sr. Manager, People and operational department heads, developing an annual corporate learning strategy and plans for both FT and PT staff and managing corporate training funds to support the plans
  • Working in collaboration with the VP, Fan Experience and Sr. Manager, People on planning, developing, and executing regular PT Staff Orientation and New Hire Training programs that align with CSE’s Fan Experience strategy
  • Leading the management of learning programs implemented for FT staff
  • Developing, managing, and communicating learning paths and development opportunities for PT staff
  • Creating new, original, and cost-effective annual plans for employee engagement, retention and recognition initiatives and assisting in the execution of planned activities for full-time and part-time staff, targeting strategies that will address areas of concern
  • Managing and maintaining CSE’s online learning tool, ensuring up-to-date content and efficient learning process
  • Ensuring new hire training aligns with and compliments the new hire onboarding process
  • Ensuring alignment between the company’s goal setting, coaching and development, and performance review processes for part-time staff
  • Working with operational departments on developing and executing PT employee communication and learning bites using tools such as the Event Staff blog, event briefings, posters, etc.
  • Leading the new hire orientation program for FT and PT staff, keeping both current and inspiring
  • Delivering orientation and training sessions for new and existing staff, becoming training certified as required
  • Maintaining up-to-date records of training, monitoring training certification due dates on a regular basis, and following up with staff when training is due
  • Ensuring all applicable event staff receive regular training in statutory programs such as respectful workplace (harassment awareness), alcohol service, food safety, security tactics, forklift operation, WHMIS, etc.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • A diploma/degree in Human Resource Management or a related field, with a focus on learning and development preferred
  • A proactive People professional with preference given to those with extensive experience in employee development and engagement activities
  • Experience developing, delivering, and managing various training initiatives and/or programs
  • Experience dealing with learning and development programs and performance improvement strategies
  • Experience with leading employee engagement and recognition strategies and best practices
  • Experience using various tools, techniques, and mediums in the delivery of training and communication
  • A team player attitude with a strong client service focus
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to interact effectively with diverse demographic of employees
  • A proactive self-starter who puts thought, creativity, and ingenuity into work assignments
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to approach problem solving in a practical, client-centered manner
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple projects
  • Flexibility to work evenings and during event times as required
