Powertech Labs Inc, BC Hydro's subsidiary that specializes in energy research, consulting, testing, and

JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
- Provides project leadership through planning, organizing, and coordinating non-destructive
testing projects and adapting and modifying a variety of laboratory and field nondestructive tests,
processes, methods and techniques to equipment and components to identify flaws and/or related
manufacturing/fabrication processes that have caused or may cause failures.
- Acts as a work/laboratory leader for and performs the same duties as one or more NDT
Specialists/technicians.
- Develops and writes reports on test results by interpreting results, developing forms and
supporting narratives and preparing recommendations to ensure codes and standards are met.
- Examines and assesses results of non-destructive test methods and techniques performed by
others deciding upon the appropriateness and quality of test methods, techniques applied, results
achieved and ensuring that related codes and standards are met.
- Participates in clients' training courses by testing and examining welds and providing technical
explanations on probable defects.
- Liaises with others within the industry to secure future work for Powertech.
- Develops new testing apparatus and methods and prepares associated procedures.

protection control for non-destructive testing units.

Qualifications:
Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) Certificate in Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) from
an accredited Institute of Technology; plus four (4) years of experience in a role performing Non
- Destructive Testing (NDT) methodologies.
OR
Diploma in Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) from an accredited Institute of Technology; plus
three (3) years of experience in a role performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methodologies.
Level 2 Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) non-destructive testing (NDT) certifications in
both liquid penetrant (PT) and magnetic particle (MT); AND Level 2 CGSB in one (1) of the NDT
certifications in ultrasonic (UT), radiographic (RT), eddy current (ET) or CWB.
OR
Level 2 CGSB NDT certifications in both PT and MT; AND Level 1 CGSB in two (2) of the NDT
certifications in UT, RT, ET, CWB, Phase Array UT, demonstrated proficiency in eddy current
array or AP 653.
OR
Level 1 CGSB NDT in two (2) NDT certifications of UT, RT, ET or CWB; AND Level 2 CGSB in
one (1) of the NDT certifications in UT, RT, ET or CWB.
OR
Level 2 CGSB in two (2) NDT certifications of UT, RT, ET or CWB.
OR
Level 3 CGSB in one (1) of the NDT certifications in UT, RT, ET or CWB.
Must hold a valid class five (5) driver's licence.
