(On-call casual, holidays, evenings, weekends)
- Assist police, fire and ambulance at the scene of a crime or tragedy
- Provide emotional support to someone whose family member has been hurt or killed in an accident
- Help secure food, clothing and shelter for a family after their house has burnt down
- Help a victim navigate supports and resources
- Discuss safety planning with a victim of abuse
- Provide a follow up at the request of police or emergency services to see how someone is coping following a traumatic event.
BENCHMARK HIRING CRITERIA
- Diploma in related human / social service field or equivalent and 1 year of directly related experience
- Crisis intervention skills. Knowledge of community supports for crime related and tragic circumstance occurrences
- Ability to work effectively in crisis situations
- Demonstrate effective verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent advocacy skills
- Ability to interact with diverse groups of people
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all issues surrounding calls for service
- Access to a vehicle
