Vacancy - Public Works Equipment Operator/Labourer

Permanent Full-Time Position

The Town of Calmar requires a permanent full-time Public Works Equipment
Operator/Labourer.

Position Duties:

  • Operate heavy and light equipment for the purposes of road maintenance, facility maintenance and snow removal. Experience operating Loader,
    Grader, Dump Trucks, etc. is required.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance such as greasing, oil changes and small repairs.
  • Assist the town’s water technicians in daily operations of the water and wastewater treatment distribution and collection system is required.
  • Perform labour tasks such as filling potholes, crack filling, weed eating, changing garbage’s, etc.
  • Willing to assist with the Parks/Recreation Dept. of the Town as required.
  • Participate in the rotational on call system and work overtime when required.
  • Actively participate in the town’s OHS program by conducting FLHA’S, inspections, attending training sessions and meetings as well as following all safe work practices and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as directed by your supervisor.

Position Requirements:

  • Grade twelve diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid class 5 Driver’s License with air brakes “Q” endorsement. Class 3 will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with the public and co-workers.
  • Physical strength, agility, and coordination sufficient to perform job tasks.
  • Equipment Operator Experience is required.
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a driver’s abstract and clean criminal record check.
