Position Summary

Liver Care Canada requires a highly motivated team member within its front desk team to ensure the efficient running of all front desk and patient related activities.

Working in collaboration with the health care team (physicians, nurses, and other clinic staff) and applicable patient support programs, the Receptionist/Medical Assistant efficiently manages the administrative functions of a family physician's office and assists in the smooth running of the office to ensure patients have timely and efficient access to therapy. This includes greeting, scheduling and managing patients/clients; supporting and communicating with medical practitioners; and performing multiple clinical and administrative functions.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Support and communicate with medical practitioners;
  • Function within a team environment in keeping the office running smoothly;
  • Patient management: creating patient charts, booking appointments; greeting patients and checking them in;
  • Coordinates scheduling of laboratory and imaging tests and files test results
  • Comply with patient safety and confidentiality policies;
  • General medical charting and filing (scanning) duties;
  • Creates, manages and updates patient files/database; scans and files patient information in a timely manner;
  • Completes clinic reports and enters relevant data into the electronic medical records (EMRs), i.e., Accuro;
  • Enters OHIP billing information and receives/tracks payments for insured and non-insured services;
  • Maintains office equipment, and inventory of office products and clinic (including mobile unit) supplies;
  • Keeps own workspace and overall clinic clean, safe and organized;
  • Complies with patient safety and confidentiality policies;
  • Fosters and promotes a spirit of teamwork while working with support and pharmacy team members;
  • Participates in regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings with client and team;
  • Perform other related clinical and administrative duties as required.

Key Qualifications

  • Medical receptionist experience is required;
  • 3 years of medical clinic or hospital experience;
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy is required;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required;
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of patient flow and clinic process;
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is essential;
  • Motivated, self-directed, and able to prioritize and keep pace in a busy, fast growing environment;
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a dynamic team;
  • Adaptable to manage multiple responsibilities and tasks - during peak periods, the incumbent deals with multiple calls for attention (including physician requests, patients, phones ringing, trouble shooting, charting/filing etc.);
  • Commitment to providing high quality and patient centered care is essential;
  • Experience in working with marginalized populations;
  • Ability to travel within reasonable territory;
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance policy and access to reliable transportation
