Accounting Clerk

OCM is seeking a highly organized individual who exemplifies the ability to handle competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines with mínimal supervision. As OCM’s Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for assisting with the financial management of the company through the administration of accounting systems, the preparation of various reports and the maintenance of financial records. The successful incumbent may also be responsible for maintaining one or a combination of general accounting systems. Knowledge of MS Office Suite and general computer skills are essential to be successful within this role. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the administration of the general accounting system for an assigned department or area of the company by following established accounting policies, procedures and practices.
  • Maintain and reconcile ledger accounts, verify and reconcile statement and analyse variance reports
  • Review and reconcile accounts receivable utilizing computerized or manual systems
  • Maintain accounts receivable customer credit limits and collections
  • Verify and process documentation for accounts payable, audits and controls commitments
  • Prepare invoices, requisitions and vouchers, which also includes verifying them against commitments and encumbrances, and approving payments
  • Audit and process invoices and accounts, review expenditure coding, identify errors and resolve them
  • Prepare regular, ad hoc financial and statistical reports for various operational areas to assist in managing the business
  • Data entry - input and maintain information in the automated accounting system; identify and report discrepancies in the data

Qualifications and Experience

  • Post-secondary education specializing in accounting
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Adobe Acrabat
  • Knowledge of Visual Accounting Software is considered an asset
  • Experience is preferred

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

  • Bookkeeping: 1 year (preferred)
