Role Overview

Position overview:
Your main missions, under the responsibility of the lab manager and as part of broader Research & Innovation group US/France:

  • Propose and execute with your team (one or two technicians) Research & Innovation projects in compliance with the Solvay safety rules.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for self and others, and provide recommendations of investments. Participates in HAZOP and LOPAs.
  • Facilitates the development and career of his team members
  • Performance objectives:

  • Lead or assist projects focused on industrialization of new polymers developed at lab / pilot scale and/or on development at commercial scale of innovative processes developed at lab / pilot scale.

  • Collaborate with US Chemical Process Engineer counterpart and GBU Technology Function to improve global chemical processes from in-depth understanding of existing processes and from new insights through combination of experimentation and data analysis.
  • Develop PFDs, heat and mass balances and P&IDs. Designs new and/or improved unit operations.
  • As the main contact for the German polymer production plant, support the manufacturing team with process improvement leading to improvement in productivity, cost, quality and with technical support as needed.
  • Assist in the review and monitoring of patent/scientific literature relevant to the business.
  • The position could offer future opportunities for partial or full international mobility (USA mainly).

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Master in Chemical Engineering (from Chemical Engineering schools such as ENSIACET, ENSIC ) and complemented with a PhD in Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience in design of experiments, data analysis, in process optimization and process simulation and modeling (ASPEN practice).
  • First professional experience is appreciated.

Desired skills:

  • Knowledge in polymer process engineering is required.
  • Knowledge in polycondensation will be appreciated.
  • English fluent is needed for regular oral and written communication with the global team
  • German could be, but not necessary, advantageous for direct interaction with the German plant.

  • As part of a GBU Research and Innovation team, must be Customer oriented and achievement driven.
  • Autonomous, capable of working within a multidisciplinary and international team with good communication skills.
  • Proactive in establishing collaboration with the R&I, manufacturing and Technology Function teams in the GBU and outside the GBU (Corporate R&I team,).
