Role Overview

We are looking for:
For the assigned portfolio, acquire market knowledge, develop, implement and manage purchasing strategies in a category management approach, conduct key negotiations, develop and implement contracts per the category strategies, ensure suppliers act per Solvay's Sustainable Development/CSR-strategy and proactively participate in networks to deliver enhanced purchasing productivity, including cost savings, risk mitigation, and innovation, and realize for internal customers an uninterrupted supply of goods/services at optimal conditions

We count on you for:
1. Develop roadmaps and execute for technical goods and technical services as follows:
- Sourcing strategies for purchase portfolio.
- Various implemented purchasing agreements in line with corporate purchasing guidelines, the

Solvay Purchasing Process (including contracts and spot orders) and individual authority limits.- Savings within own purchase portfolio.

  • Market & Supplier knowledge.
  • Sustainability of goods and services delivered.
  • Formalized network activity (if applicable).
  • Resolve site issues in cooperation with site buyers, responsibility per contract ownership.
  • Definition and implementation of the PtP channels (as part of category strategies).

  1. Purchasing performance for assigned portfolio:.- Contractual spend coverage and compliance.
  2. Contract roll out and implementation.
  3. Savings, risk mitigation and innovation within own purchase portfolio.
  4. Compliance with the Solvay Purchasing Process.
  5. Internal Customer satisfaction.
  6. Supplier relationship management, including claims.
  7. Supplier evaluation & assessment in line with Solvay Way commitments.

  8. Manage purchasing contracts- Deploy the contracts within own perimeter and communicate to all relevant stakeholders.

  9. Follow up on supplier / subcontractor performance to contract.
  10. Organize/participate in supplier evaluation, defining action plans (corrective or developmental).
  11. Create contingency plans in order to handle delivery problems.

  12. Follow-up and improve purchase performance- Work with stakeholders and other buyers to propose, implement and follow up on projects to


optimize purchasing performance (total cost of ownership, synergies, number of suppliers...).- Ensure the correct administration of purchasing documents, respecting defined procedures.

  1. Manage CapEx Projects- Negotiate, develop, manage engineering and/or procurement contracts for mechanical, civil,

I&E disciplines as well as equipment for plant production- Develop CapEx project specific procurement strategy to foster the goal of delivering the project

“on time, on budget”- Develop and execute RFI, RFP, and/or RFQ actions per the project procurement strategy.

  • Communicate, follow-up and maintain the commercial agreements in his/her portfolio
  • Proactively identify value creation opportunities for internal customers, sourcing globally
  • Maintain files and communicate non-conformance issues internally and with vendors
  • Understand Solvay’s Quality and Safety policies and ensure compliance

You will bring:

  • BS in Business, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
  • Five plus years of experience in Strategic sourcing or supply chain within chemical industry
  • Chemical Industry and Plant experience
  • Knowledge of technical goods/technical services market
  • Knowledge of procurement systems, ability to analyze market trends and forecasting
  • SAP Experience
  • Ability for work in matrix and cross functional team in positive collaborative manner
  • Strong negotiation and contract Skills, strong analytical quantitative and problem solving skills
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, Google Docs
  • Must be able to adapt to fast moving environment and changing priorities
