Main Purpose of the Role
Truphone’s Wholesale team is a fundamental enabler for the Truphone business and this is a critical and high profile role at the heart of Wholesale’s activities. The Wholesale team is responsible for the establishment and management of relationships with mobile operators who provide Truphone with connectivity into our global core network from which we serve our consumer, IoT and enterprise customers. The Operations Manager for Wholesale will own the operational execution and monitoring of all mobile wholesale arrangements across Truphone. The role will work as the central point of contact with Operations/ Customer Service, Engineering, Finance and Sales to ensure Truphone’s connectivity footprint is used in the best commercial and technically most efficient way. This role will also build and oversee the delivery of key wholesale projects across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing roaming operations efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinating directly with sponsored roaming, roaming and bilateral roaming partners to ensure a high-quality roaming experience and address roaming issues.
  • Working with network teams and technology vendors to monitor and constantly improve roaming experience.
  • Act as SPOC for roaming escalations to bring order, structure, focused attention and additional resources to situations that require wholesale awareness and swift action.
  • Responsible for roaming steering and OTA planning in line with discount agreements.
  • Responsible for leading roaming board meetings to set accountability, responsibility and progress on cross-functional operational matters, providing a roadmap to track short term and long term goals and deadlines.
  • Capture, validation and prioritization of new requirements from key stakeholders, e.g. Product Development, Strategic Partnerships, sales, executive team driven initiatives.
  • Together with commercial wholesale responsible for the analysis of traffic flows (Volumes) and underlying costs and revenues for 9 Truphone MVNO and All international outbound roaming traffic to identify areas of underperformance, TAP/RAP, rating and pricing related issues.
  • Ensure the implementation of cost saving actions by monitoring wholesale costs, providing change of steering recommendations based on pricing analysis/costs and monitor ongoing roaming discount and triggering commercial action before contract expiration.
  • Contribute to key business forums and support ad hoc queries to ensure that GSMA guidelines, contractual and regulatory obligations are clearly understood and respected;
  • Manage relationship with Data Clearing and Financial clearing house by acting as primary company contact.
  • Ensure data flow integrity by monitoring the conversion between vendor/switch files into GSMA standard TD.57 files ( TAP creation).
  • Own wholesale operational projects like the introduction of fraud management solutions or steering automation initiatives across the company and with vendors.

  • Experience in mobile wholesale (e.g. MVNO and or roaming)
  • Previous experience in mobile network international roaming operations including managing operations is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Roaming standards, policies and practices
  • Knowledge of roaming services (2G, 3G, LTE, VoLTE, 5G) plus LPWAN ( LTE-M, NB-IoT)
  • Understanding of steering of roaming and wholesale billing
  • Strong knowledge of Data Clearing processes: TAP & RAP (billing interfaces)
  • Knowledge of GSMA standards
