Job Overview and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Global Procurement Manager for Materials, the goal of the position is to manage a purchase portfolio of raw materials (8-10 MEUR), including, but not limited to:

  • Securing raw materials on time and at most competitive pricing (lowest total cost of ownership) in line with business needs.
  • Collaborating with the various internal stakeholders to ensure the GBU needs are fully considered and a TCO approach is deployed around the following tenets: Security of Supply, Quality, Competitiveness, Sustainability and Innovation.
  • Drive limited scale continuous improvement projects within EMEA to improve the overall performance of the function
  • Support Category Managers as needed and a part of on the job training/ development

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Obtain and maintain professional knowledge:

  • Follow market trends and evolutions within own domain, perform market research and identify and analyze potential suppliers.

  • Implements procurement strategies, and action plans in line with Solvay Procurement Process:

  • Execute projects and action plans after approval.

  • Actively promote CSR/Sustainable Development strategy deployment.
  • Negotiate purchasing contracts in line with Solvay Procurement Process:

  • Prepare the negotiation (identify and check potential suppliers/subcontractors, develop the RFQ, and define the negotiatio strategy) in cooperation with Category Managers.

  • Prepare and finalize the contracts with the suppliers.
  • Manage purchasing contracts
  • Deploy the contract within own perimeter and communicate the purchase contracts to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Supplier Performance Management and associated reporting
  • Propose, implement and follow up projects to optimize purchasing performance (total cost of ownership, synergies, number of suppliers ) in line with Solvay procurement performance guidance.
  • Actively promote CSR/SD strategy deployment.

Performance Objectives

Education and Experience
- Degree in Chemistry, Economics, Business, Supply Chain or related field; MBA is a

plus 3-5 years, including experience in negotiations (procurement or sales) or extensive Supply Chain operations experience- Ability to work in a multicultural environment

Skills
- An accomplished negotiator with demonstrated success in situations where suppliers

may possess greater leverage- Strong verbal and written English communication & presentation skills
