Role Overview

The Industrial Function is a transversal function of the Solvay Group. Our mission is to support the Business Units in their industrial activities "from the cradle to the grave". Environmental Rehabilitation (ER) is a key component of Solvay’s Industrial Function which supports the Group and the Business Units in managing their environmental liabilities.

The Environmental Rehabilitation department is fully empowered by the Group to ensure full compliance with all the environmental obligations in relation to our past and present operations. You will be integrated into a competent and agile team of Environmental Rehabilitation engineers and empowered to develop remediation strategies, select the best available technologies, implement remediation projects and create a sustainable impact on the Environment. Missions and Responsibilities:
You will manage rehabilitation projects for a number of assigned sites, directly for closed sites and by supporting the Site HSE manager for active sites. You will develop strategies, define and manage financial provisions, purchase and direct the services from our external consultants and contractors in order to perform investigations, design solutions and deliver the best possible remediation plans against the most optimal costs and in full compliance. To serve the purpose of this position, you will mobilize your technical expertise, insights and ability to propose innovative and efficient solutions but also your capability in collaborating with a large panel of other professionals such as HSE, Engineering experts, Purchasing, Financial, Legal including external counsels and Communication. You will have to establish and maintain permanent and high-level relationships with local Authorities (Prefectures, DREAL, Environmental agencies) and local Communities (governmental representatives, Municipalities, NGO’s).

Requirements:

  • Graduated engineer in geology/hydrogeology, in chemistry/biochemistry or environmental remediation;
  • Minimum 10 years experience in polluted soil, water or air remediation;
  • Expertise in some of the following domains: HSE management, Environment, Geology, hydrology, soil chemistry, management of closed sites, depollution, project management;
  • Fluent in English (reading, speaking, writing);
  • Good communication skills;
  • Negotiation skills;
  • Understanding of finances for industrial and of contract management for industrial;
  • Confidentiality;
