Role Overview

Job overview and responsibilities

Strategic Planning

  • Manage the annual strategic planning process
  • Develop industries/markets fact base (product, value chain, profit pools, customer/market trends, NPS, competitive landscape,)
  • Support assessment of strategic options
  • Development of mobilization plan with detailed initiatives and support execution monitoring

Develop Market strategies

  • Conduct In-depth market analysis (short and long term + future business scenarios) in selected segments to provide actionable market strategy recommendation.
  • Ensure alignment between project portfolio and market strategy (align key projects to execute & which projects to stop, challenge/support stakes of key projects)

Strategic initiatives

  • Manage / Support execution of large/strategic projects
  • Lead market studies for New Application / New Markets entry
  • Install tools and processes to screen M&A targets
  • Conduct research and analysis to support the evaluation of potential acquisitions / partnerships
  • Support Sustainability strategy development & implementation

Supervise Global Market Intelligence

  • Accountable for market intelligence practice (databases, subscriptions, benchmark of best practices,)
  • Install tools to track & spread the market/competition information
  • Manage Import / Exports statistics
  • Develop and implement competitors tracking tools
  • Develop Market size/growth models
  • Develop Supply/Demand models
  • Develop Technology cost benchmarks & Cost curves

Education and experience

  • Master degree preferably in business or chemical engineering
  • MBA is a plus
  • Experience in Strategy Consulting
  • At least 10 years professional experience

Skills and behavioral competencies

  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Able to operate in project mode (Leader / Team Player)
  • Knowledge of tools to find & analyze information, expert in use of Google Suite and Microsoft Office (incl. Powerpoint, Excel)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written communication
  • Able to manage and coach a team
  • Solid understanding of financial metrics (P&L, cost structure,)
  • Output-driven, quick, flexible and organized, able to deliver on time and under pressure
  • Independent, with ability to drive own work module, yet also strong team spirit and ability to quickly make connections with counterparts in the organization
