As our Program Coordinator, you will: work closely with the CEO in planning, implementing, and monitoring the charity’s programmes and projects; maintain excellent relationships with our donors, expanding donor funding; and collaborate with stakeholders around the world, including leaders in our Country Offices, MEAL Department and Field Offices.

Your responsibilities as our Program Coordinator will include:

  • To co-ordinate between programmes staff in the field as well as at AFH’s International Office and AFH Canada Office
  • High quality concept notes and proposals received from COs and LPs (followed by critical review and constructive feedback)
  • To manage donor relationships
  • To support other departments in the development of appeals
  • Support with emergency campaign launches within 48 hours
  • Assist in field visit arrangement for other staff members, donors etc for your respective projects. Ensure that all documentation is received in line with the field visit policy
  • To facilitate all aspects of project management for assigned proposal efforts including initial research, review/analysis, template creation, task management, kick-off/status calls, scheduling, input review/consolidation and delivery
  • To conduct Project Cycle management, including needs assessments, formulation of concept notes, proposals and budget
  • To monitor the progress of projects through field trips, close communication with project staff, monitoring of expenditure, communication with donors and problem solving
  • To ensure all legal, financial, governance, compliance, and other documentation (including grant agreements, budgets, financial reports, complaints, risk registers, SIRs etc) are updated and maintained in an accurate and timely manner and filed/communicated appropriately
  • To maintain an audit trail for all projects, partners etc
  • Processes followed for selection of new partners i.e. screen check, due diligence, partner selection form etc
  • To attend regular team meetings and contribute to the overall smooth operation of Action for Humanity Canada
  • To keep up to date with the major issues and solutions pertaining to Action for Humanity Canada

What we are looking for in our Program Coordinator:

  • Degree level education. Studies in relevant field desirable e.g. International Development, Geography, Politics, International Relations
  • Experience with project management frameworks and governance approaches
  • Experience managing a range of stakeholders
  • Experience of planning, organising, identifying obstacles, and delegation
  • Experience managing budgets, challenging costs & analysing and interpreting data
  • Working/Volunteering in an overseas location (preferably a developing country) (desirable)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to organise and present information in a compelling way
  • Team player with a positive, can-do attitude; comfortable with continuously changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong commercial intelligence and a strategic, results-driven mindset
  • Strong IT skills including: Excel and Outlook
  • A willingness to work variable hours, with occasional weekend and evening work and to travel both nationally and internationally
  • Strong written and spoken English
  • Arabic & French (desirable)

Salary: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year

Flexible Language Requirement:

  • French not required
