Senior SEO Content Writer

Addiction Pet Foods is seeking a Senior SEO Writer with a heart for pets, a flair for writing and a passion for research and good grammar.

You must have at least 5 years of copy and/or content writing experience with advanced knowledge in SEO to excel in this role. While it’s not necessary to have experience in writing about pet food per se, we expect you to be able to do research and deliver interesting and factually accurate articles quickly.

You will research keywords and trending topics to create content that will be highly valuable to our target audience, achieve high SERP rankings and drive traffic to our brand platforms.

You will collaborate with teams during brainstorming sessions with the aim of developing clear, concise and creative content ideas for marketing purposes. Your content must consistently follow our stylistic guidelines and require little to no editing once submitted.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Research and share keyword trends and upcoming trending topics relevant to our brands
• Brainstorm on content themes and ideas with the team
• Identify your target audience’s needs and search intent
• Conduct and cite in-depth research to ensure articles are factually accurate
• Develop content that will be most relevant to your target audience
• Seamlessly incorporate keyword variations, provide appropriate meta tags, meta descriptions and URL slugs, and adhere to SEO best practices
• Organise writing schedules to complete drafts of content or finished projects within deadlines
• Customise content for different markets
• Audit website content to ensure correct grammar and adherence to SEO best practices
• Work with the web team to update website content and increase internal links and backlinks for brand websites, e-commerce sites and DTC platforms
• Proofread and quality check content calendars before publication
• Monitor and analyse the performance of key performance indicators (KPIs) to offer suggestions for improvement
• Use SEO best practices and strategies in writing to increase website traffic and SERP rankings

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or a related field is preferred

5+ years of experience in content writing
Fluent in English, written and spoken

Advanced knowledge of SEO, SEMRush, and other SEO tools

Self-starter who can write independently and requires little help from Editors

Experience with FMCG brands is a plus

Basic knowledge of WordPress is a plus

Ability to adapt your writing style between articles to meet stylistic demands
Experience in pet food industry is an advantage but not required.

Contract length: 6 months

Salary: R20,000.00 - R31,000.00 per month
